Clay Mask

If you have followed me for a while you know I love making my own products. Whether is for cleaning, bathing, general beauty, or aromatherapy/ herbal products I enjoy making things myself. I have made many sugar scrubs over the years, frankly, too many to count as I use it several times a week, but every once in a while I like using a facial mask to help clarify my skin and to bring it back to life. Most of the products in the store are filled with harmful chemicals. I came across green clay online at my favorite aromatherapy shop. I decided to try my hand at making my own mask!

Here is a link to the recipe I used and its also where you can purchase every product.

  • 1 Tablespoon French Clay

  • 1 drop of Geranium Essential Oil (or whatever you have)

  • 1 teaspoon Avocado Oil (or another carrier oil)

  • 1-3 Tablespoon Rose Otto Hydrosol

  • 2oz-4oz Jar

  • Metal or glass spoon or stirring rod

Add the clay, oil, and 1 drop of essential oil into your jar. Mix the the three together with your stirring rod. Add your hydrosol into the mixture 1 tablespoon at a time until you get the consistency you like. You want it to spread smoothly and not be too clumpy.

I like to apply it when my skin is dry, but be sure to avoid the eyes as the essential oil can burn your eyes.

When its finished try to use it within 2 weeks as hydrosol is a water based product and it can mold.

You can play around with the carrier oil to find one that works with your skin type. Olive oil is great for dry skin as its thick. Jojoba and Grapeseed Oil are lighter oils and good for normal to oily skin.

I used Jasmine in my mask as its a heavy fragrance and has been known to help with acne. Tea Tree is also a good one to help with acne, but use only 1-2 drops as it can be irritating to the skin.

I hope you enjoy this mask as much as I do! I will admit, my husband gives me funny looks when I put it on.

For your view pleasure! Haha!
